The Punjab government has given the green light for a 40-kilometer green corridor in Lahore, which will run from Shahdara to Raiwind. This new project aims to help reduce smog and air pollution in the city by turning the land along railway tracks into lush green belts.
As part of the plan, old railway carriages will be converted into libraries and cafés at different points along the corridor. These unique spots will provide people with places to relax, read, and enjoy their surroundings, encouraging more community activities in the city.
The green corridor will cover around 700 kanals of land and has a budget of over Rs. 2.35 billion. The project is expected to be finished within a year and will play an important role in making Lahore greener and cleaner.
This green corridor is one of several steps the Punjab government is taking to tackle environmental challenges and improve the quality of urban life for the people of Lahore. Officials hope that adding more green spaces will help fight air pollution and provide residents with healthier places to spend their free time.
By giving old railway areas a new purpose and adding creative spots like libraries and cafés, the government aims to make the city not only cleaner but also more vibrant and community-friendly. Many believe this project will set an example for other cities to follow in their fight against pollution and urban crowding.
