Pakistan, Afghanistan and China Resume Trilateral Talks to Strengthen Trade and Security

by Hameed

Pakistan, China, and Afghanistan have agreed to extend the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) into Afghanistan. The move is aimed at boosting trade, regional development, and better connectivity.

The agreement came during the Sixth Trilateral Foreign Ministers’ Dialogue, which was recently held in Kabul. Leaders from all three countries underlined the importance of closer cooperation for long-term stability and prosperity.

The ministers also discussed joint efforts to fight terrorism and drug trafficking, issues that continue to pose challenges for the region.

Along with this, they agreed to look for more opportunities to work together in areas such as health, education, culture, and infrastructure development. These sectors, they stressed, could help improve people-to-people ties and build stronger regional trust.

During the dialogue, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar emphasized the need for Afghanistan to take practical and verifiable actions against groups involved in cross-border attacks.

He pointed out that peace and economic growth cannot be achieved without stronger security arrangements. Dar further noted that regional cooperation would only succeed if stability is maintained across all borders.

Meanwhile, the ministers welcomed recent positive steps in both economic and diplomatic relations. They reaffirmed their collective goal of promoting peace and prosperity by working together on projects that bring long-term benefits.

The meeting ended with a joint commitment to continue dialogue, strengthen mutual trust, and open new doors of opportunity for the people of all three nations.

The expansion of CPEC into Afghanistan is being seen as a step that could reshape regional trade and create new economic possibilities for years to come.
