Sindh Insurance Limited Launches free Accidental Health Takaful Scheme Offering Medical Coverage of up to PKR 700,000 for Registered Workers across Sindh, with Nationwide Hospitalization Facilities

by Hameed

In a major development aimed at advancing worker welfare and digitisation, the Workers Welfare Board Sindh (WWB) together with Sindh Insurance Limited (SIL) in a ceremony in Karachi led by the Shahid Abdul Salam Tafheem, Sindh Minister for Labour & Human Resources announced the roll-out of the Digital Worker Welfare Card.

The card scheme is designed to benefit approximately 3.4 million industrial workers in Sindh, delivering transparent and hassle free access to welfare services without the need for paperwork, brokers or long queues. Workers’ benefits will now be directly linked to their CNIC, with registration through automatic verification of NADRA and EOBI data significantly simplifying the process.

According to the Minister, eligible workers will now have direct access to a range of welfare benefits including:
• Death grants
• Marriage grants
• Scholarships
• Other support programmes for labour families

Further elevating the initiative, Sindh Insurance Limited under its Takaful framework will provide free accidental health insurance coverage of up to Rs. 700,000 annually for each registered worker valid for use at over 250 hospitals nationwide, entirely on a cash less basis.

In parallel, the Minister announced additional welfare measures: the free distribution of 10,000 electric motorbikes to female workers, provision of sewing machines, rehabilitation of labour welfare colonies, and upgrading of educational institutions for labourer families.
