Good News! Petrol Prices likely to Decrease in December

by Mahnoor Arif

Pakistanis may finally get a small break from rising living costs as petrol and diesel prices are expected to drop in the first half of December. This comes as early estimates suggest a slight downward trend in global oil prices, bringing some relief to consumers already struggling with high inflation.

According to initial calculations, petrol prices may go down by around Rs3.75 per liter. High-speed diesel is expected to see an even bigger cut, with a possible reduction of Rs6.10 per liter. These changes, if approved, will help ease daily transport expenses for millions of people, especially those who rely on motorcycles, cars, buses, and trucks.

Prices of kerosene and light diesel oil are also likely to fall. These fuels are widely used in rural areas for heating, cooking, and small machinery, so the price drop will benefit households and small businesses across the country.

OGRA has completed its assessment of global market trends and currency exchange rates. The summary has now been sent to the Finance Ministry. The final decision will be made on November 30, after consultations with the Prime Minister.

If approved, the new prices will take effect from December 1. While the reduction may not be very large, it still offers welcome relief at a time when many families are facing rising food prices, utility bills, and other expenses.

Consumers are hopeful that this positive trend will continue in the coming months, helping reduce financial pressure and improve affordability as the new year approaches.
