Chilgoza Worth Rs. 38.5 Lakh Stolen in Daylight Robbery in Gujranwala

A bold daylight robbery took place in Gujranwala where thieves stole chilgoza pine nuts worth Rs. 38.5 lakh from a local trader. The incident has raised serious concerns about public safety and accurate reporting of losses in criminal cases.

According to reports, the robbery happened during busy daytime hours. CCTV footage from the area shows three suspects entering the premises and carrying away six large sacks filled with chilgoza. The suspects were seen leaving calmly, which suggests they were confident no one would stop them. The footage later circulated among locals and helped confirm the scale of the theft.

Chilgoza pine nuts are considered a high value dry fruit and are mainly sourced from northern regions of Pakistan. Due to their limited supply and high demand, especially before winter, chilgoza sells at very high prices in local markets. The stolen stock was meant for sale during the peak season, making the loss even more damaging for the trader.

The affected trader has expressed serious concern over the police report. He claimed that the loss was officially recorded as only Rs. 3.5 lakh, which is far less than the actual value of the stolen goods. He fears this may affect the investigation and recovery process.

Police officials say a case has been registered and an investigation is underway. They are reviewing CCTV footage and gathering evidence to identify the suspects. Authorities have assured that action will be taken once the culprits are traced.

Members of the public are urging police to act quickly, arrest those responsible, and recover the stolen chilgoza to ensure justice for the victim.
