China has set a new world record in high‑speed maglev technology, as a prototype train reached an incredible 700 kilometres per hour in only two seconds during a recent test. The breakthrough was achieved by scientists at the National University of Defense Technology on a specially built 400‑metre track, highlighting rapid progress in ultra‑fast transportation systems.
The train uses superconducting magnetic levitation (maglev) technology, which lifts the vehicle above the tracks using powerful magnets.
