PIA Sign Cargo Partnership with Garuda Indonesia to Boost Exports

by Hameed

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has signed a new cargo partnership with Indonesia’s national airline, Garuda Indonesia, to improve export shipping options for businesses in Pakistan.

Under this Cargo Special Prorate Agreement, which will be in effect from January 2026 to July 2027, cargo shipments from Pakistan will be transported through Jeddah and Kuala Lumpur before reaching Jakarta and other international destinations. This routing is expected to make cargo movement smoother and more efficient for exporters.

The agreement also improves Pakistan’s access to some of the world’s major air cargo hubs, including Singapore, Hong Kong, Sydney, and Bangkok. Through this partnership, exporters will benefit from competitive freight rates, better connectivity, and priority handling of their shipments, helping reduce delays and overall shipping costs.

PIA says the deal is part of its broader plan to strengthen air cargo operations and provide reliable logistics support to Pakistani exporters. By expanding links to key markets such as China, South Korea, Australia, and Southeast Asia, the airline aims to help local businesses reach more customers worldwide.

Overall, the partnership is expected to boost Pakistan’s export potential, support trade growth, and make it easier for businesses to move goods quickly and efficiently to international markets.
