Basant Preparations in Full Swing! Market Sales Cross Rs 18 Crore on Second Day

Basant preparations are in full swing in Lahore as markets linked to kite flying continue to see heavy business activity. On the second day of sales alone, Basant related trade crossed Rs 18 crore, showing strong public interest and growing excitement ahead of the spring festival.

According to the Legal Advisor of the Kite Flying Association (KFA), the first day of sales had already recorded business worth more than Rs 16 crore. With the addition of the second day’s figures, total sales of kites and kite strings have now crossed Rs 32 crore in just two days. Traders say this early surge reflects both the cultural importance of Basant and the return of controlled celebrations in the city.

Market sources shared that on the second day alone, more than 600,000 kite bundles were sold across Lahore. In addition, around 15,000 spools of string were purchased by customers preparing for rooftop celebrations. Busy markets such as Mochi Gate, Ichhra, Anarkali, and Shah Alam Market remained crowded throughout the day, with families and young people lining up at kite shops.

Shopkeepers and small manufacturers say Basant provides vital seasonal income for thousands of workers involved in paper cutting, kite making, and retail sales. Many traders expressed hope that business will continue to grow as the festival days approach.

Authorities have reminded citizens to follow safety rules during kite flying and avoid banned or dangerous strings. Despite these concerns, the rising sales figures show that Basant continues to hold a special place in Lahore’s cultural life, blending tradition, celebration, and economic activity.
