Pakistan and China have signed 78 memoranda of understanding valued at around 4.5 billion dollars to strengthen investment and cooperation in the agriculture sector. The agreements were finalized during the Pak-China Agriculture Investment Conference and highlight agriculture as a key focus under the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
The MoUs cover a wide range of agricultural areas, including seed development, dairy and meat production, fisheries, food processing, farm machinery, and modern agricultural technology. These partnerships are expected to bring new expertise, advanced techniques, and better equipment to Pakistan’s farming sector.
Officials said the main goal of these agreements is to modernize agriculture, improve productivity, and help farmers adopt new technologies. The initiative also aims to boost agricultural exports, create jobs, and strengthen cooperation between private companies from both countries.
The government has announced plans to double agricultural exports over the next three years by improving market access, encouraging investment, and promoting technology sharing with China. Overall, the move is seen as an important step toward making Pakistan’s agriculture sector more efficient, competitive, and export-oriented.
