ICC Replaces Bangladesh with Scotland in T20 WorldCup

by Hameed

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has decided to replace Bangladesh with Scotland in the 2026 T20 World Cup after the Bangladesh Cricket Board declined to send its team to India, citing security concerns.

This decision came after several weeks of discussions between the ICC and the Bangladesh Cricket Board. An emergency ICC board meeting was also held to address the issue. During the meeting, most members voted against changing the tournament schedule, especially since the event is approaching and major changes could disrupt planning and logistics.

Bangladesh had requested that its matches be moved to Sri Lanka as an alternative. However, this proposal did not receive approval from the Bangladeshi government, and no agreement could be reached. With Bangladesh maintaining its position and no viable solution available, the ICC concluded that relocating matches at such a late stage would not be practical and could harm the fairness and integrity of the tournament.

As a result, the ICC decided to move forward with the original schedule in India and invited Scotland to take Bangladesh’s place. Scotland will now compete in Group C matches of the tournament, giving the team an unexpected but significant opportunity on the world stage.
