Peshawar’s Big Cricket Comeback! PSL 11 Matches to Be Held at Imran Khan Cricket Stadium

by Mahnoor Arif

Peshawar is set to make a major comeback in Pakistan’s cricket scene, as the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 matches will be held at the city’s Imran Khan Cricket Stadium for the first time.

This decision comes after a high-level security review in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, highlighting the province’s readiness to host large-scale sporting events.

The move reflects the growing importance of KP in Pakistan’s cricket development. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi noted that nearly 60% of Pakistan’s national team players come from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, showcasing the region’s deep pool of cricketing talent.

By bringing PSL matches to Peshawar, the board aims to provide local players more exposure and opportunities to perform on big stages.

The stadium, named after former Prime Minister and cricket legend Imran Khan, has undergone upgrades to meet PSL standards, including improved seating, enhanced security measures, and better facilities for players and fans. Authorities are working closely with local law enforcement to ensure a safe and smooth experience for spectators.

PSL 11 is scheduled to run from March 26 to May 3, featuring top domestic and international players. Hosting matches in Peshawar also aims to encourage youth participation in cricket, inspire local talent, and strengthen the city’s sporting infrastructure.

Cricket enthusiasts in Peshawar are eagerly awaiting the return of high-profile matches, which are expected to boost the city’s profile and bring economic benefits through tourism and related activities.

The inclusion of Peshawar in PSL 11 marks a significant milestone for regional cricket development and fan engagement.
