The government of Punjab has reviewed plans to develop Nawaz Sharif IT City Faisalabad, a project aimed at strengthening the province’s digital economy and technology sector. Officials say the project will help promote innovation, attract foreign investment, and create new job opportunities.
A meeting was held to discuss progress on the project. It was chaired by Anusha Rehman and Chaudhry Shafay Hussain, along with representatives from the Faisalabad Industrial Estate Development and Management Company and officials from the provincial IT and Innovation Department.
The technology city is planned within the Faisalabad Industrial Estate. According to officials, the project will include modern facilities such as data centres, technology offices, and advanced digital infrastructure to support software companies, startups, and technology firms.
Authorities believe the project can help connect skilled workers in Faisalabad with international technology markets. It is also expected to encourage collaboration between local entrepreneurs and global technology companies.
Officials explained that the IT city is not only about building infrastructure but also about creating a full technology ecosystem. The goal is to support sustainable economic growth by expanding digital services, strengthening innovation, and creating employment opportunities for the province’s growing young workforce.
