Punjab to Buy 10 Vehicles for Superior Court Judges

by Mahnoor Arif

The government of Punjab has approved the purchase of 10 vehicles for the superior judiciary as part of a broader cost saving plan. The decision was taken in a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

Earlier, there was a proposal to buy 108 luxury vehicles worth around Rs 1.14 billion. However, the cabinet rejected this plan and chose a more limited purchase to reduce spending. Officials said this step reflects the government’s focus on financial discipline during ongoing economic challenges.

As part of the austerity measures, cabinet members, special assistants, and parliamentary secretaries have agreed to donate two months of their salaries to a national relief fund. Lawmakers and senior government officers will also contribute a portion of their income to support the initiative.

The government says these steps are aimed at reducing unnecessary expenses while still meeting essential needs. The decision to limit vehicle purchases is being seen as a move to balance administrative requirements with responsible spending.

Along with these measures, the cabinet also approved several reforms and development projects. These include improvements in healthcare, education, water supply systems, and governance across the province.

Such steps will not only save public money but also help improve basic services for citizens. The focus remains on better management of resources and delivering practical benefits to the people of Punjab.
