Punjab Issues 5.5 Million Driving Licenses in 100 Days

by Mahnoor Arif

The Punjab Traffic Police has achieved a major milestone by issuing 5.5 million driving licences in just 100 days. This impressive figure shows a big increase in people using licensing services across the province.

According to official details, the total includes over 2.2 million learner’s licences and around 147,000 regular driving licences. In addition, more than 186,000 licences were renewed, while over 8,700 duplicate licences were also issued. The police also provided more than 13,700 international driving permits during this period.

A notable highlight is the growing use of digital services. More than 2.142 million people applied for licences through online platforms, making the process faster and more convenient for citizens.

This achievement reflects improved efficiency in the licensing system. Faster processing times, better digital facilities, and wider public awareness have encouraged more people to get proper driving licences. Officials say the campaign aims to bring more drivers into the formal system, which can help improve road safety and reduce violations on Punjab’s busy roads.

The Punjab Traffic Police is continuing efforts to modernise services and make licensing easier for everyone. This record performance in 100 days has been praised as a positive step towards better traffic management and public convenience in the province.

With millions now holding valid licences, authorities hope it will lead to safer driving habits and stronger road discipline across Punjab.
