Hajj Fares for Pakistani Pilgrims will Not Increase: Minister for Religious Affairs

by Mahnoor Arif

Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Religious Affairs, Sardar Muhammad Yousuf, has assured that Hajj fares for Pakistani pilgrims will not increase this year despite rising global oil prices. The government has finalised all arrangements to keep costs stable for the pilgrims.

Speaking in Riyadh, the minister said the government has signed firm agreements with airlines. These deals ensure that no extra charges will be imposed on pilgrims beyond the pre-determined Hajj package rates. This step provides much-needed relief to thousands of families planning for the holy journey.

Hajj flight operations will begin on April 18, 2026. The first flights are scheduled to depart from major cities, including Karachi, Lahore, Sialkot, and Multan, with a new direct route added from Lahore for greater convenience. Airlines have been strictly instructed to follow the official packages without any additional fees.

This year, Pakistan will send around 180,000 pilgrims to perform Hajj. Of these, 120,000 will travel under the government scheme, while 60,000 will travel through private operators. The total quota of approximately 179,210 has been fully utilised.

The minister emphasised that all arrangements for accommodation, transport, and other services in Saudi Arabia are complete. The focus remains on providing a safe, smooth, and comfortable pilgrimage experience for every Pakistani pilgrim. Authorities have urged pilgrims to follow official guidelines and complete all necessary procedures on time.

This decision brings comfort to intending pilgrims who were worried about possible fare hikes due to high fuel costs. The government hopes the stable fares will allow more Pakistanis to fulfil their religious duty without financial burden.
