The project was announced by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai. He explained that the museum aims to celebrate Dubai’s vibrant arts scene and strengthen the city’s reputation as a global cultural destination.
The museum’s design comes from Tadao Ando, a world-famous Japanese architect known for his innovative and beautiful buildings. His floating museum design will symbolize the harmony between art and architecture, creating something both functional and visually stunning.
Sheikh Mohammed specifically thanked Abdullah Al Futtaim and Omar Al Futtaim for their important role in developing this ambitious project. Their involvement demonstrates how private sector businesses can partner with government to support Dubai’s sustainable growth and development.
