US President Donald Trump has said that the United States and Venezuela together control about 55 percent of the world’s total oil reserves. He added that countries like Russia and China are free to buy as much oil as they want from either the US or Venezuela.
While speaking to reporters, Trump referred to Russian President Vladimir Putin as a “good person,” but said he was disappointed with some of Putin’s recent actions. He did not go into detail but suggested that his expectations had not been met.
Trump also revealed that the US is considering investing up to 100 billion dollars in Venezuela. He said discussions are taking place about helping rebuild Venezuela’s oil industry, which has suffered years of decline. The focus would be on repairing infrastructure, increasing production, and restoring the country’s ability to supply oil to global markets at a time when energy demand and global energy policies are changing.
