KP CM Forms ‘Imran Khan Release Force’ to Secure Former PM Imran Khan’s Freedom

by Mahnoor Arif

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has announced the formation of what he called the “Imran Khan Release Force,” a political group aimed at campaigning for the release of Imran Khan, founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

Speaking to reporters outside the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Afridi said the initiative would pursue a peaceful and constitutional struggle. He announced that members of the force would take a formal oath on February 22, marking the start of an organized campaign focused on what he described as democratic and legal principles.

According to Afridi, the force will operate under a structured chain of command. Leadership roles, he said, would be assigned based on recommendations from the party’s founder. He stressed that the group would not act outside the framework of the law and would avoid confrontation, instead relying on political mobilization and public engagement.

The chief minister also emphasized that preparations are still underway and that no formal protest campaign will begin until organizational arrangements are finalized. He described the move as part of a broader effort to uphold democracy and constitutional supremacy in the country.

The announcement comes at a time of heightened political tension, with PTI supporters continuing to call for Khan’s release through legal and political channels. Analysts say the formation of a structured campaign group could signal a more coordinated strategy by the party in the coming weeks.

Further developments are expected after the February 22 oath-taking event.
