Iran Launches Ballistic Miss!le Att@ck on U.S. Aircraft Carrier USS Abraham Lincoln

by Mahnoor Arif

In an act of military retaliation that has sent shockwaves across the world, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on March 1, 2026, that it had fired four ballistic missiles at the United States Navy aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, one of the most powerful warships on the planet, currently positioned in the Arabian Sea.

The IRGC’s Announcement

The Revolutionary Guard said in its seventh communique of the operation: “The U.S. Navy aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln was attacked with four ballistic missiles.” The IRGC described its strikes against “American-Zionist enemy targets” as having entered a “new phase,” warning that “land and sea will increasingly become the graveyard of terrorist aggressors.”

In Announcement No. 7 regarding Operation “True Promise 4,” the IRGC stated that the action was carried out following recent operations by the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran against targets associated with the United States and Israel, adding that operations on land and at sea will be intensified.

What Is the USS Abraham Lincoln?

An American aircraft carrier is one of the most strategically important assets in the U.S. military arsenal. A Nimitz-class carrier such as the USS Abraham Lincoln functions as a floating airbase, capable of deploying dozens of fighter aircraft and supporting thousands of service members.

The 37-year-old carrier was operating off Oman in the Arabian Sea with a primary mix of F/A-18 multi-role fighter jets and new generation F-35C stealth fighters. The carrier had already been playing an active role in the joint US-Israeli strikes on Iran, launching jet attacks on Saturday. Its escort ship, the San Diego-based destroyer USS Spruance, also fired Tomahawk cruise missiles at Iranian targets.

The United States Has Not Confirmed Damage

U.S. defense officials have not yet confirmed the attack or provided details regarding potential impacts, interceptions, or damage assessments. Key questions remain unanswered: Were the four missiles intercepted by U.S. defense systems? Did any reach the carrier? Were there casualties or structural damage?

If confirmed, this would represent the first direct attack on a U.S. aircraft carrier in decades, a moment military historians would mark as a turning point in modern warfare. The USS Abraham Lincoln is not just a warship. It is a symbol of American military dominance and global reach.

The world is now holding its breath, waiting for Washington’s response to what could be the most dangerous direct military confrontation between Iran and the United States in history.
