Punjab Achieves Its First-Ever AI Enabled, Machine-Marked Grade 8 Assessment For Nearly 1 Million Students

Punjab has achieved a historic milestone in education by successfully conducting its first-ever AI-enabled, machine-marked Grade 8 assessment for nearly one million students.

The large-scale examination was held across the province using modern technology. Instead of traditional manual checking, answer sheets were scanned and marked by artificial intelligence (AI) and machines. This made the marking process faster, more accurate, and completely transparent.

According to the Punjab Education Department, almost one million Grade 8 students appeared in the assessment. The introduction of AI-based marking is being hailed as a major step towards modernising the education system and reducing human error in result compilation.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif congratulated the education department and students on this achievement. She described it as a landmark moment that reflects Punjab’s commitment to bringing technology into education and ensuring fair and timely results.

The AI-enabled system is expected to significantly reduce the time taken to announce results. It will also help in generating detailed performance reports for students and schools, allowing teachers to identify areas where students need more support.

Education experts believe this successful pilot project will pave the way for similar technology-driven assessments in other classes in the future. Punjab’s initiative is being seen as a model for other provinces in Pakistan to follow.

This achievement marks a new chapter in Punjab’s journey towards digital and quality education.
