China’s leading AI company DeepSeek is preparing to launch its powerful next-generation model, V4, which will run entirely on Huawei chips. This move marks a big step for China’s push toward self-reliance in advanced artificial intelligence technology.
According to a report by The Information, the new model is expected to be released in the coming weeks. Major Chinese tech giants, including Alibaba, ByteDance, and Tencent, have already placed large pre-orders for hundreds of thousands of Huawei’s latest AI chips to support the launch.
DeepSeek worked closely with Huawei and another Chinese chipmaker, Cambricon Technologies, for several months. Engineers rewrote parts of the model’s code to make it run smoothly and efficiently on domestic hardware. This is different from earlier models, where the company shared early access with US chip firms like Nvidia. This time, DeepSeek gave priority only to Chinese chipmakers.
Two more versions of V4 are also being developed with different strengths for various uses. The move comes after DeepSeek’s previous V3 and R1 models created big waves in the global tech market last year, causing sharp changes in stock prices.
Experts see this as an important victory for Huawei and China’s efforts to reduce dependence on foreign chips amid US export restrictions. The upcoming V4 release is generating huge interest worldwide as countries watch the fast growth of Chinese AI.
This development could speed up China’s AI progress and strengthen its position in the global technology race.
