GWM to Launch Its First Pickup Truck “Cannon Alpha” in Pakistan

by Mahnoor Arif

Great Wall Motors (GWM) is set to bring its first pickup truck, the Cannon Alpha, to Pakistan in June 2026. This plug-in hybrid (PHEV) model will be a new choice for buyers who want power, comfort, and low running costs.

The Cannon Alpha uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor. Together, they produce strong performance, up to 300 kW (around 402 hp) and 750 Nm of torque in top versions. It offers an electric-only range of up to 115 km, which is very useful for city driving and helps save fuel. The total range can reach over 1,000 km when the battery and petrol tank are full.

This pickup is built tough for Pakistani roads. It has true 4×4 capability with locking differentials, 3,500 kg towing capacity, and good off-road features. Inside, it feels luxurious with large touchscreens (12.3 or 14.6 inches), comfortable leather seats, advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), 360-degree camera, and modern safety features.

The launch comes as Pakistan’s market grows for hybrid vehicles. Exact prices for Pakistan are not yet announced, but the Cannon Alpha is expected to compete with other pickups by offering better efficiency and luxury.

GWM’s entry shows increasing interest in green and powerful trucks in the country. Many people are excited to see how this modern hybrid pickup performs on local roads.
