Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, has expressed heartfelt gratitude to Pakistan’s government, leadership, and people for their participation in the funeral ceremonies of Iran’s late Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, describing Pakistan’s presence as a powerful symbol of the enduring friendship between the two neighboring countries.
In a statement shared on social media, the ambassador thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gilani, National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and other senior officials, religious scholars, political leaders, and cultural personalities who attended the funeral in Tehran.
Moghadam said Pakistan participated in the funeral at the “highest possible level,” calling it a historic gesture that reflected the deep-rooted ties, shared values, and mutual respect between the people of Iran and Pakistan. He added that both countries have consistently stood by each other during difficult times as well as moments of celebration.
A high-level Pakistani delegation led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif attended the funeral ceremonies in Tehran to convey condolences on behalf of the government and people of Pakistan. During the visit, Pakistani leaders reiterated their solidarity with Iran and emphasized the importance of maintaining close bilateral relations.
The ambassador’s remarks underscore the strong diplomatic relationship between Islamabad and Tehran, highlighting Pakistan’s support during one of Iran’s most significant national mourning events. Observers say the visit and the ambassador’s appreciation are likely to further strengthen cooperation and goodwill between the two neighboring nations.
