The Pakistan Navy has successfully rescued 19 crew members from a fishing vessel that became stranded in the North Arabian Sea after suffering an engine failure, demonstrating a swift response to a maritime emergency.
The fishing vessel, AL JALALI, was stranded approximately 120 nautical miles south of Gwadar when its engine stopped working. The vessel was carrying 19 crew members, including 11 Pakistanis and eight Iranian nationals.
The rescue operation was coordinated through the Joint Maritime Information Coordination Centre (JMICC), which plays a key role in maritime safety and search-and-rescue coordination. Pakistan Navy personnel responded to the distress situation and successfully secured the stranded vessel and its crew.
The operation was carried out amid adverse monsoon conditions, adding to the challenges faced by the rescuers. Despite difficult conditions at sea, the Navy ensured that all 19 crew members remained safe.
According to reports, the Navy also provided the crew with food, drinking water and medical assistance before beginning efforts to tow the vessel toward the shore.
The successful mission highlights the importance of rapid maritime response, particularly for fishing communities and vessels operating far from the coast. Engine failures can quickly become dangerous in open waters, especially when accompanied by rough weather.
The safe rescue of all crew members reflects the Pakistan Navy’s continued role in maritime search-and-rescue operations and its commitment to protecting lives at sea.
The incident ended without reported loss of life, with the crew safely assisted after their vessel was left stranded far offshore.
