The Pakistan Navy, in coordination with the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA), successfully rescued all 20 crew members from a sinking cargo vessel near Ormara in a swift maritime rescue operation. The vessel encountered severe flooding while sailing east of Ormara on its journey from Karachi to the Gulf of Oman, prompting an emergency distress call.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Joint Maritime Information Coordination Centre (JMICC) immediately coordinated the rescue effort after receiving the distress signal. Pakistan Navy ship PNS Hunain was diverted to the scene, while aerial assets, including a naval helicopter, were deployed to support the operation despite challenging sea conditions.

The coordinated response enabled rescue teams to reach the distressed cargo dhow in time, safely evacuating all 20 Pakistani crew members before the vessel could sink completely. The rescued sailors were transported to safety and provided with the necessary medical attention. Authorities confirmed that none of the crew members suffered life-threatening injuries during the incident.

Officials praised the professionalism and rapid response of the Pakistan Navy and PMSA personnel, stating that their timely action prevented a potential maritime tragedy. The successful mission highlighted the importance of close coordination between maritime agencies in responding to emergencies in Pakistan’s coastal waters.

The rescue comes amid heightened naval operations in the Arabian Sea, where authorities continue to respond to maritime emergencies and ensure the safety of commercial shipping routes. The Pakistan Navy reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives at sea and maintaining round-the-clock readiness for rescue missions.

The successful operation stands as another example of Pakistan’s maritime rescue capabilities, demonstrating the Navy’s preparedness to respond quickly to distress situations and safeguard seafarers navigating the country’s coastal waters.
