Xiaomi has unveiled its next-generation humanoid robot, Tieda, at the 2026 World Robot Conference, showcasing the company’s progress in artificial intelligence and robotics.
Standing 1.7 metres tall and weighing 66 kilograms, Tieda features 66 degrees of freedom, giving it a wide range of movement and allowing it to perform tasks that require human-like coordination.
The robot is powered by embodied AI, a technology designed to help machines understand and interact with their physical surroundings. Unlike robots that simply follow fixed instructions, Tieda is being developed to perform factory tasks more autonomously and adapt to real-world situations.
Xiaomi said the robot underwent four months of training inside a factory to improve its ability to handle manufacturing jobs. During this period, Tieda achieved an impressive 98% success rate in dual-side self-tapping nut installation, while its success rate on other factory tasks reached 90%.
The results demonstrate the potential of humanoid robots in industrial environments, where they could eventually assist with repetitive, precise or physically demanding jobs.
However, Xiaomi has made it clear that large-scale commercial deployment of Tieda is not yet imminent. The company still needs to further improve the robot’s reliability, capabilities and ability to work safely in complex environments.
Tieda’s development reflects the growing race to combine humanoid robotics with AI, with manufacturers increasingly exploring robots that can learn tasks and operate more independently in real-world workplaces.
