Shifa International Hospitals has achieved the highest number of Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditations and certifications in Pakistan, marking a major milestone for the country’s healthcare sector. The achievement highlights the hospital group’s growing focus on international standards, patient safety and evidence-based medical care.
The latest recognition includes JCI Enterprise Accreditation for Shifa Enterprise, which aims to ensure consistent standards of quality and patient safety across Shifa’s different facilities and services.
One of the most notable achievements is the JCI accreditation of Shifa Ambulance Service (SAS). According to Shifa and reports published by Pakistani media, SAS has become the first ambulance service in Pakistan to receive JCI accreditation. The recognition represents an important step for emergency and pre-hospital medical care in the country.
Shifa’s recent achievements build on several other JCI recognitions. In June 2026, Shifa International Hospitals became a JCI-accredited Academic Medical Center, joining a small group of institutions worldwide with this distinction.
The hospital also made international headlines after becoming the only hospital in the world to simultaneously receive JCI Clinical Care Program Certifications for both Acute Ischemic Stroke and Acute Coronary Syndrome. These certifications recognize specialized care for two serious and time-sensitive medical conditions.
Shifa said the collection of accreditations reflects its broader commitment to creating a “Culture of Care”, where patient safety, clinical quality and evidence-based practices remain central to healthcare delivery.
The achievement is being viewed as a significant development for Pakistan’s medical sector. It demonstrates that healthcare institutions in the country can meet demanding international benchmarks while continuing to expand specialized and emergency services.
