The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has launched a public search for a new fielding coach for the men’s national cricket team, using LinkedIn to advertise the vacancy. The unusual recruitment move has quickly attracted attention from cricket fans and social media users.
The PCB announced the vacancy on September 1, inviting experienced candidates to apply for the role. The new coach will be responsible for improving and developing the fielding skills of Pakistan’s national team players across all formats.
According to the job requirements, applicants must have at least a Level II cricket coaching qualification and a minimum of five years of experience working with elite cricketers at national, international or franchise level. Candidates are also expected to have expertise in fielding techniques, player development and game analysis.
The position became available following the departure of Australian coach Shane McDermott, who had served as Pakistan’s all-format fielding coach. The PCB is now looking for a permanent replacement as it continues to reshape the national team’s coaching structure.
The LinkedIn advertisement has generated plenty of reactions online, with some fans welcoming the more professional and open recruitment process, while others joked about seeing a major international cricket board advertising a national-team coaching position like an ordinary corporate vacancy.
