The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed Sahibzada Farhan as the new T20I captain, replacing Salman Ali Agha. The change was announced on October 5, 2026, as the PCB revealed Pakistan’s squads for the upcoming white-ball matches.

Farhan will lead Pakistan in a three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka, with all three matches scheduled to be played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on October 9, 11 and 13.

The new captain recently led Pakistan at the 2026 Asian Games, where the team won a silver medal. He has also been among Pakistan’s leading performers in T20 cricket, strengthening his position in the national setup.

Salman Ali Agha has been left out of the T20I squad following the leadership change. However, he remains part of Pakistan’s ODI squad and will be available for the upcoming tri-series involving Pakistan, England and Sri Lanka.

The T20I squad includes players such as Fakhar Zaman, Shadab Khan, Saim Ayub, Naseem Shah and Abrar Ahmed. Young players Razaullah and Mohammad Imran Randhawa have also received white-ball call-ups.

Meanwhile, Shaheen Shah Afridi will continue as Pakistan’s ODI captain for the upcoming tri-series.

The PCB’s latest decision marks a significant change in Pakistan’s T20 leadership, with Farhan now set to begin his captaincy tenure against Sri Lanka.
