United Bank Limited (UBL) has reported a 16.45% increase in profit after tax to Rs116.56 billion for the nine months ended September 30, 2026, compared with Rs100.09 billion during the same period last year.
According to the bank’s financial results released on October 16, the growth was supported by higher income from investments in securities, foreign exchange earnings and an increase in net interest income.
UBL’s earnings per share also increased by 15.80% to Rs46.54, up from Rs40.19 recorded in the corresponding period of 2025.
The bank’s total income rose 21.12% to Rs381.16 billion during the nine-month period, compared with Rs314.71 billion a year earlier. Non-interest income more than doubled to Rs98.14 billion, largely due to a significant increase in gains from securities.
However, rising expenses remained a major challenge. Operating expenses increased by 52.48% to Rs138.28 billion, while total non-interest expenses climbed 50.49% to Rs143.19 billion. Net interest income grew by a more modest 5.84% to Rs283.02 billion.
UBL also announced an interim cash dividend of Rs8 per share for the third quarter of 2026. Including earlier payments of Rs16 per share, the bank’s total dividend distribution for the nine-month period reached Rs24 per share.
Despite higher operating costs, the bank maintained double-digit profit growth during the first nine months of the year.
The latest results highlight UBL’s ability to generate higher earnings from investment-related activities, although continued increases in operating expenses could affect its profitability in the coming quarters.
