Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif believes Pakistan’s IT exports can reach over $25 billion with better use of resources and focused education and training for the workforce.
During a meeting in Islamabad to review IT sector reforms, the Prime Minister instructed the Higher Education Commission (HEC) to create a plan for providing youth with international-standard education, training, and skills. He highlighted the increasing demand for Pakistani IT professionals in Gulf countries and emphasized the need to act on proposals to support this growth.
He also stressed the importance of setting clear goals to boost IT exports and assigning deadlines for each step to ensure progress. To oversee the reforms, the Prime Minister announced the formation of a dedicated committee. He further encouraged cooperation between various institutions to drive development in the IT sector.
With a strategic focus on improving education and resource management, the government aims to unlock the full potential of Pakistan’s IT industry. By addressing workforce needs and setting measurable targets, the country is expected to strengthen its position in the global IT market and achieve significant economic growth.
