Sindh Gives Rs 146.77 Million Fuel Subsidy to 3,976 Vehicles

Sindh government has given fuel subsidy worth Rs 146.77 million to 3,976 vehicles so far. This information was shared by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Monday during a review meeting. The money has been directly transferred to the bank accounts of eligible transport operators.

The subsidy scheme was started to help the transport sector after a sharp rise in petrol and diesel prices. Global events pushed fuel costs much higher in recent weeks. Petrol reached around Rs 458 per litre, and diesel went even higher. To protect common people from higher fares, the Sindh government decided to give targeted help to bus, van, truck, and other public transport owners so they do not increase ticket prices.

Officials said that data of nearly 11,980 vehicles was submitted for the subsidy. Out of these, 3,976 cases have been cleared and paid. However, more than 5,000 applications are still under review. The main problems include CNIC number mismatches, missing bank account (IBAN) details, and other data errors. The Chief Minister has directed officers to fix these issues quickly so that genuine applicants receive their subsidy without delay.

This fuel subsidy is part of a bigger relief package announced by the Sindh government in early April 2026. The programme aims to keep public transport fares stable and support the people who travel daily for work. It also includes help for small farmers and motorcycle owners. The government is working closely with the federal government to share the cost of this relief.

CM Murad Ali Shah said the main goal is to reduce the burden on low-income citizens and keep the transport system running smoothly. He asked departments to speed up the process and make sure only correct and eligible cases get the money.

Experts believe such steps help control inflation and support the economy during difficult times caused by rising global oil prices. The Sindh government has promised to provide more help if needed.
