PCB Plans Stadium in Saudi Arabia, Future PSL Matches Likely in Jeddah

by Mahnoor Arif

The Pakistan Cricket Board is exploring plans to build a cricket stadium in Jeddah, marking a possible step to take Pakistani cricket beyond its borders. The idea is still in early stages, but talks have started with the Saudi Arabia Cricket Federation to study feasibility and location options.

This move is mainly aimed at engaging the large South Asian community living in Saudi Arabia. Millions of Pakistanis and other cricket fans live and work there, yet they have limited access to live international matches. A stadium in Jeddah could help fill that gap and bring the game closer to overseas fans.

If the plan moves forward, the venue could later host matches from the Pakistan Super League, along with other matches involving Pakistan. In recent years, cricket boards have shown interest in expanding into new markets to grow audiences and revenue. Similar efforts have been seen with leagues hosting matches in the UAE.

Officials suggest that once an agreement is finalized, construction could be completed within about a year. However, timelines may depend on approvals, funding, and infrastructure planning.

If successful, the project could strengthen Pakistan’s cricket presence globally while also supporting the sport’s growth in Saudi Arabia.
