Donald Trump has proposed a massive $1.5 trillion defense budget for the fiscal year 2027, according to details released by the Pentagon. If approved, this would be one of the largest military budgets in US history, showing a strong focus on expanding defense capabilities.
A large portion of the funding is planned for ships, aircraft, and advanced weapons systems. The proposal includes more than $65 billion for shipbuilding, with plans to produce 18 new warships.
This marks the biggest naval expansion effort since the early 1960s. The budget also increases funding for modern fighter jets such as the F-35 Lightning II, along with next-generation aircraft programs.
In addition, the plan focuses on new technologies like missiles, drones, and artificial intelligence. One key project mentioned is the “Golden Dome” defense system, which is expected to improve missile detection and national security. These developments reflect a shift toward high-tech warfare and rapid response systems.
The proposal still needs approval from the US Congress before it can be implemented. Experts say the plan could strengthen the US military but may also raise concerns about rising government spending and global arms competition.
