Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will resume direct flights between Islamabad and Beijing starting July 3, 2026. The national carrier announced this on June 5, bringing back a much-needed air link between Pakistan and China.
The Islamabad–Beijing–Islamabad service was restored due to growing demand from students, business travelers, tourists, academics, and families. Direct flights will make travel faster and more convenient by eliminating long layovers in other cities. The journey takes about 5 to 6 hours.
This development is expected to boost educational exchanges, as many Pakistani students study in Chinese universities. It will also help business people, traders, and tourists by strengthening people-to-people ties under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and broader bilateral cooperation.
Travel and education experts have welcomed the decision. They believe easier connectivity will increase tourism, trade, and cultural links between the two friendly countries. PIA described the move as part of its efforts to improve international routes and support Pakistan-China friendship.
Flights will operate weekly initially using wide-body aircraft. Passengers can now book tickets for this route through PIA’s website or authorized agents. This resumption is seen as a positive step for stronger economic and diplomatic relations.
