The federal government is planning good news for salaried people in the upcoming Budget 2026–27. Reports say major income tax relief worth about Rs50 billion may be announced to reduce the burden on the salaried class.
According to proposals under discussion, new tax slabs could bring changes for people earning above Rs183,400 per month. The revised rates may start from 20% and go up to 35%, depending on the income level. This aims to lower taxes compared to the current system, where higher earners pay more.
In the present tax structure, people earning between Rs183,334 and Rs266,667 monthly face a 23% tax on the amount above a certain limit. The new plan may ease this pressure on middle and upper-middle-income salaried individuals who have faced high taxes and inflation in recent years.
The government wants to support hardworking employees and boost the economy. However, these proposals are still under review. They will be finalised in the Finance Bill 2026 after discussions with concerned authorities and international financial institutions like the IMF.
Experts believe this relief can help retain talent and reduce brain drain. Salaried people are hopeful that the final budget on June 10 will bring real benefits. Final details will become clear after the official announcement.
