The Election Commission of Gilgit-Baltistan has delayed final results in five constituencies due to problems at some polling stations. These include GB-15 Diamer-I, GB-16 Diamer-II, GB-17 Diamer-III Darel, GBA-13 Astore, and certain stations in GBA-8 Skardu. Re-polling is scheduled for June 15, 2026.
Officials said the overall elections on June 7 were peaceful, but disruptions and complaints forced them to order fresh voting at selected stations. The Chief Election Commissioner made it clear that no final results will be announced until re-polling is completed and all votes are properly counted. This step ensures fairness and follows election rules strictly.
Meanwhile, unofficial results show the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leading with around 10 seats. PML-N is in second place with about 5-6 seats, while independents won several others. Political talks are active as PPP and PML-N prepare to form a coalition government. Sources say PPP may take the Chief Minister position, with PML-N getting the Governor’s post and a share in ministries.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated all parties for conducting largely peaceful elections. The delay in five seats will not stop the process of government formation, but final numbers will be clear only after June 15. People in Gilgit-Baltistan are waiting for complete and transparent results.
This election is important for the region’s future development and stability. Authorities are working to resolve issues quickly so the new assembly can start its work soon.
