by Mahnoor Arif

The National Assembly was informed that around 3,500 Pakistanis were deported from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for violating social media laws. This happened during the recent Iran-US conflict.

Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry told lawmakers that the deportations were carried out under UAE’s local rules on online content and activity. He made it clear that the action was not specifically targeted at Pakistani nationals but was part of general enforcement during a sensitive time.

The government said it is providing all possible support and assistance to the affected citizens and their families. Pakistani missions in the UAE are working through diplomatic channels to help those impacted.

Officials also briefed the house on broader matters related to overseas Pakistanis. This includes prison assistance programs in different countries, efforts to bring back citizens under agreements, and steps to stop illegal migration and human smuggling. Some FIA officials involved in facilitating illegal activities have been dismissed.

The UAE remains home to a large Pakistani community that contributes greatly through remittances. The government urged citizens abroad to respect local laws while promising continued support for their welfare.
