Lionel Messi has reached another incredible milestone by becoming the first footballer in history to score in seven consecutive FIFA World Cup matches.
The Argentine captain achieved the record during Argentina’s 3-1 victory over Jordan at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Messi came off the bench in the second half and scored a superb free-kick, helping his team secure an important win.
The scoring streak began during the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, where Messi found the net in every knockout match. He has now continued that run into the 2026 tournament, setting a new World Cup record.
With this goal, Messi also increased his overall World Cup tally to 19 goals, extending his record as the highest-scoring player in the history of the men’s FIFA World Cup.
Football fans around the world praised the 39-year-old star for once again proving why he is regarded as one of the greatest players the sport has ever seen.
Argentina will now look to build on its strong start as the tournament continues.
