Pakistani researchers are now eligible to apply for OpenAI’s Bio Bounty Program, offering rewards of up to $50,000 for helping improve the safety of advanced artificial intelligence models. The opportunity is open to qualified researchers with expertise in AI security, cybersecurity, biosafety, and related technical fields.
The program is designed to identify weaknesses in the safety protections of OpenAI’s latest AI models. Selected participants will be asked to find a “universal jailbreak”—a method that consistently bypasses the model’s biological safety safeguards across a predefined set of tests. Successful findings will help strengthen AI systems against misuse.
OpenAI recently increased the maximum reward from $25,000 to $50,000, reflecting the importance of improving AI safety as the technology continues to advance. Smaller rewards may also be offered for partial discoveries that contribute to strengthening the models’ defenses.
Pakistan is included among the eligible countries listed on the application form, allowing local researchers to apply for consideration. However, submitting an application does not guarantee participation. OpenAI will review applications and invite selected candidates to join the private testing program. Participants must also sign a non-disclosure agreement before receiving access to the testing platform.
The initiative is expected to encourage more Pakistani professionals to engage in global AI safety research and showcase their expertise on an international stage. As artificial intelligence becomes more widely used, ensuring that advanced models remain safe and secure has become a top priority for technology companies worldwide.
The new opportunity highlights Pakistan’s growing presence in the global technology community. By participating in international AI safety programs, Pakistani researchers can contribute to the development of more secure and responsible AI systems while gaining recognition for their technical skills and research capabilities.
