The basic salaries of Supreme Court judges in Pakistan have been increased by Rs. 400,000 per month following approval by President Asif Ali Zardari on the recommendation of the federal government.
Under the revised salary package, the Chief Justice of Pakistan will receive a monthly basic salary of Rs. 1.55 million, while other Supreme Court judges will receive Rs. 1.5 million per month.
The revised package also includes an increase in various judicial allowances and benefits. Judges will additionally receive a monthly medical allowance of Rs. 150,000 under the updated arrangements.
The new salary structure will be implemented retrospectively from December 10, 2025. This means eligible judges will also receive arrears for the period covered by the revised package.
The decision comes as part of changes to the remuneration and benefits provided to members of the country’s highest court. The revised package is expected to cover both the increased basic salaries and additional allowances approved under the new arrangement.
The increase has drawn attention because of the significant rise in the monthly remuneration of Supreme Court judges. The changes will provide judges with higher salaries and additional financial benefits compared with the previous package.
The development follows the federal government’s recommendation and the president’s approval, completing the formal process for revising the judges’ remuneration.
