Pakistan’s passport has achieved a notable improvement in global rankings, now listed among the world’s top 100 passports, according to the Henley Passport Index 2025. The announcement was made by Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, who highlighted the country’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to enhance international mobility.
Dr. Chaudhry revealed that Pakistan has signed visa abolition and exemption agreements with 50 countries, reflecting stronger global engagement and cooperation. However, he clarified that these agreements currently apply only to diplomatic and official passport holders, not to those with ordinary passports.
The minister added that several new bilateral agreements are under negotiation, aiming to expand travel access for Pakistani citizens in the future. He emphasized that the government’s focus is on improving Pakistan’s global standing through effective diplomacy, economic partnerships, and international collaboration.
While the current update does not yet grant ordinary passport holders visa-free or visa-on-arrival privileges, the improvement in ranking is seen as a positive step toward global recognition and stronger foreign relations.
Experts view this development as a reflection of Pakistan’s gradual progress in global perception, signaling potential for further mobility advancements in the coming years.
