The Government of Punjab has announced that salaries and pensions will be paid in advance to Muslim government employees and pensioners before Eidul Fitr 2026. According to a notification issued by the provincial Finance Department, payments will be released on March 16, 2026.
The decision is aimed at providing financial relief to civil servants and retired officials so they can manage their expenses during the festive period. Eidul Fitr is one of the most important religious occasions in Pakistan, and families often face higher spending on food, clothing, and travel during this time.
Officials said the early release will apply to both serving employees and pensioners across all provincial departments. The move follows the regular salary and pension payments already made earlier in March. Authorities have directed all concerned departments and treasury offices to ensure that the payments are processed on the announced date without delay.
Such advance disbursements are commonly announced before major religious festivals to support public sector workers. Economic analysts say that early salary payments can also help boost short term market activity, as increased spending supports local businesses.
The Punjab government stated that the step is part of its effort to ease financial planning for employees and ensure continuity of support during the holiday season. Further instructions have been issued to ensure smooth implementation across the province.
