A US-based startup called GRU Space has announced ambitious plans to build a luxury hotel on the Moon and has already started accepting reservations from future space tourists. People interested in staying at the lunar hotel can book a room by paying a deposit ranging from $250,000 to $1 million, which is equal to roughly Rs7 crore or more, depending on the package.
The company plans to launch its first hotel mission in 2032, which will accommodate four guests at a time. Before sending tourists, GRU Space will carry out several test missions to study inflatable living structures and explore construction materials that can be used directly on the Moon.
Backed by startup accelerator Y Combinator, GRU Space aims to make space tourism an important part of future lunar activities.
