Pakistani Air Traffic Controllers Praised Globally for Safely Guiding Flights During Iran-US W@r

by Mahnoor Arif

Pakistan’s air traffic controllers have received high praise from the International Federation of Air Traffic Controllers’ Associations (IFATCA) for their outstanding professionalism during the recent US-Iran conflict.

In a special letter sent to Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), IFATCA commended the controllers for successfully managing a sudden surge in air traffic. As fighting escalated between the United States and Iran, many international airlines diverted their flights away from Iranian airspace. Pakistan, being a major aviation corridor connecting Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, saw a sharp increase in diverted flights passing through its airspace.

Despite the extra pressure and heavy workload, Pakistani controllers worked efficiently to guide hundreds of flights safely. They ensured smooth coordination, prevented any potential risks, and maintained high standards of safety and operational continuity even during tense geopolitical conditions.

IFATCA highlighted the dedication and skill of Pakistani controllers, noting that their quick response and calm handling helped maintain stability in regional and global aviation at a very challenging time. Reports also mentioned that controllers successfully diverted around 30 passenger aircraft that were drifting toward restricted Iranian war-zone airspace due to bad weather.

This international recognition has brought pride to Pakistan’s aviation sector. Officials from the Civil Aviation Authority said the controllers worked round the clock with full commitment to protect lives and keep air traffic moving safely.

The praise from IFATCA underlines Pakistan’s important role in global aviation and the high capability of its air traffic management team during crises. It also reflects the professionalism and resilience shown by Pakistani controllers when the region faced serious disruptions.
