“Talk Will Be Held Only in Pakistan, Not Elsewhere; we Trust Pakistan, not the US”: Iranian Envoy

by Mahnoor Arif

Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, has made it clear that any future negotiations between Iran and the United States will take place only in Pakistan.

Speaking at a policy event in Islamabad, the ambassador said Iran fully trusts Pakistan as a neutral and reliable mediator. He rejected the idea of holding talks in any other country and stated that Iran does not rely on the United States as a trustworthy partner in the dialogue process.

Ambassador Moghadam praised Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts and described Islamabad as a fair and honest host. He thanked Pakistan for creating a secure and dignified environment for the recent high-level talks between Iranian and American delegations.

He also repeated Iran’s official position that its nuclear programme is entirely peaceful and dismissed claims that Iran is trying to develop nuclear weapons. The ambassador accused Israel of seeking regional dominance with the backing of the United States.

Despite decades of external pressure and sanctions, he said Iran remains strong and resilient. He stressed that Pakistan’s mediation has laid the foundation for a diplomatic process that could lead to a sustainable framework if trust is maintained.
