Iran Ranks 4th Smartest Country in the World with Average IQ of 105

by Mahnoor Arif

Iran has ranked 4th among the smartest countries in the world with an average IQ score of 104.8. This ranking comes from the 2026 report published by the “International IQ Test” website.

The results are based on online IQ tests taken by more than 10,538 people from Iran in 2025. Iran’s score shows a small drop of 1.5 points compared to the previous year. The global average IQ is set at 100.

According to the ranking, the top five countries are:

  1. South Korea – 106.97
  2. China – 106.48
  3. Japan – 106.3
  4. Iran – 104.8
  5. Australia – 104.45

This online test is popular and easy to take from home. However, experts note that the results come from people who chose to take the test themselves. It may not fully represent the whole population of a country, as self-selected samples can sometimes give higher scores.

Many people in Iran celebrated the news on social media, seeing it as a sign of the country’s strong education system and focus on learning. Iran has a long history of valuing knowledge and science.

Still, traditional IQ studies sometimes show different numbers. This particular ranking is based only on one website’s online data and should be seen as one interesting measure, not the complete picture of national intelligence.
