Lahore Introduces First 180kW EV Fast Charging Station on Shami Road

by Mahnoor Arif

Lahore has taken a big step toward green transportation with the launch of its first 180kW electric vehicle (EV) fast-charging station on Shami Road. The facility was inaugurated on Friday by the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO).

LESCO CEO Engineer Muhammad Ramzan Butt led the inauguration ceremony. LESCO played a key role by providing a fast-track grid connection and full technical support. This helped make the high-power station ready for use very quickly. The station is located at Shell Recharge on Shami Road in Lahore Cantt and was installed by ACharge with their Titan 180kW charger.

This ultra-fast charger can add many kilometers of range in a short time. It supports popular standards like CCS2, CCS1, and CHAdeMO, making it useful for most electric cars. Drivers can now charge their EVs much faster than before, which reduces waiting time and makes electric vehicles more practical for daily use.

LESCO officials said the project shows their strong support for modern energy systems and the growing shift to electric mobility in Pakistan. They plan to set up more such stations across the city in the coming months. This will help reduce air pollution, lower fuel costs, and support the government’s green energy goals.

The new station is expected to boost confidence among EV owners and encourage more people to switch from petrol and diesel vehicles. It marks an important milestone in Lahore’s journey toward cleaner and smarter transport. Residents and EV users have welcomed the development as a positive move for the city’s future.
