Princess Catherine, the Princess of Wales, completed the UK’s National Three Peaks Challenge in 24 hours over the weekend of June 28, 2026, to raise money and awareness for cancer care.
The challenge involves climbing Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England, and Snowdon in Wales. Together the trek covers 23 miles of hiking and more than 10,000 feet of ascent, with 462 miles of driving between mountains.
She finished the final climb at Snowdon and was welcomed by Prince William, their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, along with her parents Carole and Michael Middleton and brother James Middleton.
The Princess undertook the challenge for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, linked to the London hospital where she received treatment after her cancer diagnosis in March 2024. She announced in January 2025 that she was in remission. Catherine said the climb was a chance to explore life beyond diagnosis and to give something back.
In a message shared with a summit photo, she wrote that cancer does not just affect the body. It changes how people think and feel and impacts every part of life.
She stressed that the journey through and beyond treatment requires more than medicine alone and called for holistic care that supports physical, emotional, psychological and social health.
During the trek she met 11-year-old Ted Haslam, who was climbing in a wheelchair to support Molly Ollys charity, and later made a personal donation to his fundraising page signed “C”.
Mountain Rescue teams supported her on each peak. Kensington Palace noted she is believed to be the first member of the Royal Family to complete the challenge.
