A major search and recovery operation is underway after a K2 Airways cargo plane travelling from Sharjah to Karachi disappeared over the Arabian Sea, leaving five crew members missing. The aircraft, a Boeing 737 freighter, lost contact with air traffic control after reporting a navigational system problem during its approach to Pakistan.

Search teams later located floating wreckage approximately 53 nautical miles south of Ormara along Pakistan’s coast. The discovery confirmed that the aircraft had crashed into the sea, but authorities have not yet officially confirmed the fate of the five crew members. Recovery operations remain ongoing, with the Pakistan Navy, Maritime Security Agency, and other rescue teams searching the area for additional debris and the aircraft’s flight recorders.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy and extended condolences to the families affected, assuring that every available resource would be used to support the search and investigation. Aviation officials have urged the public to avoid speculation until the official inquiry determines the exact cause of the crash.

Preliminary flight data indicates the aircraft experienced unusual altitude changes shortly before contact was lost. However, aviation experts stress that the cause of the accident cannot be established until investigators recover and examine the flight data and cockpit voice recorders. International aviation authorities are expected to assist Pakistani investigators in determining what led to the fatal incident.
